Stewarding at Strawberry Fair
Stewards play a key role in helping the event to run by maintaining a visible presence throughout the day to deter trouble and act as a point of contact if someone needs information or help.
Working in pairs, stewards patrol the site to keep an eye on the crowds in order to ensure the safety and well being of all visitors. If they see something that shouldn't be happening they will let HQ know who will arrange for the issue to be dealt with appropriately. Stewards are encouraged to deal only with situations they feel comfortable with and never put themselves in danger.
In the event of a major incident the role of a steward becomes even more crucial. Whilst the professional agencies (police, fire, etc...) may lead in a situation such as this stewards provide vital support.
Stewards are also available to provide information about the Fair, such as where toilets, stages, or information stands are.
If you see someone in a Strawberry Fair high-vis jacket say hello - they're probably a steward and happy to help you.
